Cafayate sits at 1,683 m, with little rain and a big gap between day and night. Here's how to pick when to go.

April to November, the dry season

Cafayate has a semi-arid climate: little rain, and most of it falls in summer. So the most comfortable season to ride runs from April to November, with clear days and dry roads.

Spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) are the best: neither summer heat nor the coldest winter mornings.

Summer: doable, best in the morning

December to March is the rainiest stretch. You can still ride, but it's better to head out early and keep the plan flexible in case the weather turns.

Winter: nice days, cold mornings

In June and July it barely rains and the days are clear. Mornings are cold: there can be a 10 to 15 °C difference between day and night, so start in layers and shed them as the sun climbs.
